Estudo do efeito de tratamento térmico nas propriedades mecânicas do aço inoxidável AISI 440c

Abstract

There is great interest in the use of the AISI 440c stainless steel alloy due to its mechanical properties, due toits mechanical properties, given by its high carbon composition and the presence of chromium, wich during the heat treatment forms carbides in a martensitic matrix. The carbides formed, depending on their morphology, allow the material to have a high hardness and mechanical strength. This work objective is to analyze the changes in the mechanical properties of the alloy by means of quenching followed by tempering, varying the quenching fluids and the tempering heat. In this work it was observed that such variations in alloy processing lead to microstructural changes allowing a greater hardness and thus improving its mechanical resistance.
