Resumen
This paper focuses on the similarities found in the political and social aspects of V for Vendetta (Alan Moore) and 1984 (George Orwell), along with the political situation in England during the writing of both novels - post-WWII and Margaret Thatcher’s government - to explain why authors of different periods present a similar dystopian future to the country. Studies related to the field of intermediality are presented to explain the existing connections between a Graphic Novel and a traditional novel based on the concepts presented by Claus Clüver and Irina Rajewski. Studies related to the social factor in literature, such as the ones developed by Antonio Candido, Alfredo Bosi and Lucien Goldmann, are also presented to support the relevance of external factors that influenced the novels on our analysis. Relevant political and social concepts for the analysis such as totalitarianism, socialism and anarchy, are also presented for the better understanding of the aspects explored.
