Abstract

Inventory management is an issue of fundamental importance in many areas of production. However, many companies end up neglecting their management due to lack of knowledge and / or time. In the industrial area, where the company under study operates, the stock is kept at high levels to guarantee the level of production, without taking into account some costs and harms embedded in this practice. Based on this thought, a case study was carried out in the present work with the use of inventory management and modeling concepts to define demand as deterministic and to determine the safety stock and the size of the replacement lot, which provided a 14.57% cost reduction for the company, this study can be replicated for several industries.
