The demand for new energy brought several new technologies for laboratories. Now it is necessary to study them and make them cheap, productive and efficient. Solar energy is very promising, as have many good results in low latitude countries, but still a challenge for countries of cold and cloudy weather. Very common in Europe, the water heating system is part of people's lives and this is a considerable cost on your expenses. Solar thermal collectors are the technology developed for heating domestic water. Study this technology is one of the ways to make it viable in a country like Ireland. This paper analyzes the structure mounted on the DIT energy laboratory, a roof integrated solar collector. The goal was to validate the structure and the water heating system, simulating irradiation of the external environment in the laboratory. The system worked in a way, and was able to simulate common days every month in Ireland. Some problems were found in the system and must be corrected to an improvement in efficiency. The solar collector was very efficient in energy conversion. The thermal insulation carried on the inside of the roof work, allowing the design of the collector integrated in a roof.
