Resumen
This study aimed to assess the feasibility of the implantation of a system of utilization of rain waters coupled to a green cover. Considering the fact that the university is a public place that receives a large number of people every day, it need to be clean. But, it is using potable water for non-potable purposes. In this study, the volumes of clean water spent at the university with cleaning and utilization of sanitary appliances were researched and combined to the rainfall data of the city. Making it possible to accomplish a study, through the Rippl method, to calculate an ideal cistern. it was found that, due to the university conditions, the use of green roof connected to a rainwater utilization system, can not comply with the demand for all the use of potable water for non-potable purposes in the building, because would be necessary a tank with a very big size. So it was considered only for sanitary appliances use. Containing a cistern of 10 cubic meters and an elevated reservoir of 1.75 cubic meters. Also through the climatological data of the city and the analysis of the thermal benefits that the green cover bring to the building, an improvement in the thermal comfort became clear, due to the use of the green cover. With the calculated system, it was possible to conclude a budget for the implementation of this sustainable solution, receiving a payback in about 94 years and saving a total of 300 m³ of potable water per year.
