Otimização linear aplicada ao balanceamento de estoque de uma indústria de móveis

Abstract

This work presents a study on Linear Optimization and its application in the stocks balancing production planning and control of a furniture industry. The Mathematical modeling of the studied problem is performed using the so-called Combined Problem, which connects two important optimization problems: lot sizing and stock cutting problems. The case study developed consists in collecting data from a small-scale furniture plant, located in Cornélio Procópio city, in the state of Paraná, Brazil, in order to plan the production of different types of furniture over an annual period, considering pieces and final products stocks. Simplex Method and Branch and Bound Algorithm are applied in order to obtain the solutions to the proposed scenarios of production, providing support to the decision make and minimizing the global costs of production. The results indicate that the proposed model, considering stocks balancing, provides the production planning and the minimum production costs in comparison with the production that answer demand by each period.
