Resumen
The construction industry is responsible for infrastructures indispensable to humans. In Brazil, in the last ten years, the average contribution of the sector in the national GDP was of 5.78%, and in the industrial GDP of 23.52%. In order to increase the growth of the sector, it is necessary to invest in new technologies that seek to modernize and support the management processes of the construction site and also the supply chain, considering that the construction industry is characterized by being very large, fragmented and diversified. To reduce the problems arising from these characteristics, Information Technology (IT) has been used in projects, management and decision making. However, IT adoption must also consider user behavior, their intended use, andaspects that may interfere with successful adoption. For this, the UTAUT model aims to measure the use behavior and the intention to use through the performance expectation (EP), the effort expectation (EE), the social influence (IS) and the facilitating conditions (CF). Thus, this paper aims to characterize the adoption and use of IT in the construction industry of the southeastern cities of Paraná. To this end, two systematic literature reviews were carried out, one on IT adoption in construction management and the other on usual IT applications in construction supply chain management. Following, a modified version of the UTAUT model was applied, considering the context of the construction industry. Data were processed by structural equation (SEM) modeling using SmartPLS 3.2.8 software. The results showed that PE has a positive influence on behavioral intention (HF), FC has a positive influence on HF, HF has a positive influence on use behavior (USE), and two resistance to change (MR) constructs, short thinking. (PCP) and search for routine (BR) have a positive influence on HF. In possession of quantitative results, semi-structured interviews were conducted with professionals in order to deepen the understanding on the subject. This step allowed the understanding and discussion of the motivations and barriers to the adoption and use of IT in the construction industry. It is highlighted that the use of IT is more widespread in the design phase than in the execution phase of works. The adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is incipient in the design phase and does not advance to the execution stage. The interviews also confirmed the results obtained in the UTAUT model, as well as showing the importance of top management support for IT adoption. Regarding the supply chain, it was observed that it is neither automated nor integrated.
