The large amounts of polluting substances are dumped into water bodies with day-today agricultural, chemical and industrial processes and a lot of it, such as heavy metals, are not removed from the usual physical facilities of treatment plants. There are several types of technologies available for the treatment of hazardous contaminants and one of them is the adsorption, which has low cost and ease of operation. The objective of this work is to study the potential of lead biosorption by means of pruning residues of Poincianella pluviosa var. peltophoroids (Benth.) L.P.Queiroz in aqueous samples. The pruning residues were thermally treated and then kinetics tests of 24 hours were performed using 1 g of the adsorbent previously prepared in contact with a lead solution 100 mg/L and then dissolved 1:10. The pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order models were fitted to the experimental data. For the kinetic study a 100% removal was achieved, the adjustment was adopted for 360 min and the best fitting model was the pseudo-first order model. The results obtained were able to prove the adsorption of lead by coal of pruning residues of Poincianella pluviosa var. peltophoroides (Benth.) L.P.Queiroz.
