Resumen
Today, its well known the world energy resources by fossil fuels has a well defined limit of use, in contrast with the increasing demand for energy. Also, due to mainly environmental issues, these fossil sources tends to be gradually replaced by renewable energy resources, as its impact on the environment and climate change is less pronounced. From this background, the present work aims to analyze the viability of microgeneration on urban residences, using a so called Pelton turbine, running based on the hydraulic head of the public water supply network. From the design, were determined the electricity generation, the cost of system installation and a simple, yet effective, financial viability analysis was performed, consisting of the initial investment ratio compared to the annual savings generated energy.
