Resumen
With the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, new business models emerge and this allows to improve the roduction processes, creating decentralized and independent factory modules. However, this requires a period of adaptation and a broad understanding of enabling technologies, as well as methods and tools. In this context, the present work had as objective to analyze systematically the published studies on the topic Industry 4.0 and to evaluate the main tendencies and gaps for its management in the Chemical Engineering area. To search the analyzed articles, we searched the databases Science Direct, Scopus and Web of Science using the keywords: “management AND factory 4.0 OR fourth industrial revolution OR smart manufacturing” and filtering by category of articles. In this way, three hundred and forty-two articles were obtained, which were analyzed considering the objectives, conclusions and links between Industry 4.0 and the sustainability and education of young people. Thus, the importance of having technically trained professionals with multidisciplinary training to understand and work with the variety of technology that makes up an intelligent factory stands out. Therefore, it is created the possibility to implement new disciplines in the course of chemical engineering, as well as extension projects with the industries of the region.
