There are several studies showing the benefits of music for hu man development in the emotional and social aspects, as well as its important role as an alternative therapy to psychosomatic illnesses. This work presents the research and development of a didactic MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) instrument focused in percus-sion instruments. A wireless MIDI controller instrument will be implemented which will be also responsible for the communication with a computer where the sounds will be synthesized. Inspired in the toy Simon, a MIDI file decoder wil l be also developed. De-pending on the notes read from a MIDI file, LEDs installed in eac h pad (set of drums and cymbals with sensors) will light up, showing how to play a rhythm or exercise on the drums. It is expected that with this project, a student would be instigated to study music and through it develop his psycho motor skills.
