Abstract

In this paper it was performed a study on assembly line, assembly line balancing and techniques for assembly line balancing. The present study was aimed at balancing an assembly line of a carmaker through mathematical modeling and identify the gains from the current balancing used by the company under study. When comparing the solutions obtained with the balance adopted by the company, only the mathematical model for the SALBP-1 showed no gains. However, compared to SALBP-1 with adapted modeling the gains were significant. Obtained as an 12% gain in productivity, a reduction of approximately 94% of the idle time and decrease loss by balancing almost 91%.
