Resumen
Chalenger at the time of this maintenance, whose mission was to recover two floats from the existing Industrial Waste Treatment Unit (UTDI), from an oil refinery, within a maximum period of 60 days, in order to support the new effluent load of the expansion of the refinery, with reliability until the new treatment plant could come on stream. Inspections of the structure to diagnose the most critical anomalies occurred while the equipment was in operation. They sought to identify the chemical aggressors in the concrete and in the metallic structures of the equipment. A carefully studied agent was the pH variation in the processed charge of the floats. The recovery was initiated by ultra-high pressure water cleaning (35,000 PSI), confirming the following anomalies: reinforcement corrosion, concrete displacement, erosion, cracking and efflorescence in concrete and significant loss of thickness in metallic structures. It was started with the treatment of the reinforcements and cracks in a conventional way, and the structure re-applied applying structural polymer mortar, the waterproofing of the recovered structure was chosen, the use of two different materials for each part of the Float, the set of mortars polymers in the runners and with polyester fabric on the walls , and mortar modified with polymers and additives was applied to the internal and external runways. Currently the floats are in operation, for more than six years, with visual inspections and routine maintenance. After this period a re-evaluation of the materials used to be commented in this work was carried out.
