Resumen
Sexuality education is provided for in the official documents guiding basic education and represents an important progress towards building knowledge and awareness of the body, health and human relations. Nevertheless, there is still a certain resistance towards works in that area, given the great controversy such theme involves. Thus, this paper has as its main objective the analysis of the potentialities of a didactic sequence for the introduction of sexuality education themes in the early final years of the elementary School. The didactic sequence is used as a tool of support to the teaching practice, which allows for the approach of sexuality education as an ample concept, taking into account the cultural, affective and social dimensions, so that students can develop a different perception in reference to sexual matters. The research has a bibliographical and documental character, and focuses on the investigation of the following reflections: historical aspects of sexuality education in Brazil, the insertion of the theme in basic education, and the study of the conceptual axis inside sexuality education. The perceptions involved in the process of qualitative-interpretative analysis have made possible the certification of the didactic sequence proposition and the confirmation that such strategy can be considered of potential significance in science teaching.
