Políticas públicas para juventude: desafios e conquistas do Projovem Urbano Itapetininga (SP)

Abstract

This study deals with public policies for youth, especially Projovem Urbano, its implementation and development in Itapetininga (SP). Some considerations contextualizing the term "youth" today are presented, under the sociological point of view and the implications of this view for the design and implementation of policies. The study focalize official documents that explain the bases, the structure and goals of the Projovem Urbano. Young people directly committed to the program are interviewed, to learn how their lives were affected by this policy. Also collected the impressions of the professional involved with Projovem in Itapetininga (SP) as well as the problems and difficulties faced. One result is the forwarding to work, on the part of young people excluded in the municipal district. Another effect was the increase in self-esteem, due to participation in the Program. Students could realize that they are able to study, change your view of the world, broaden your horizons, and hence achieve better positions in the labor market.
