Resumen
With the increasing demand for water, any waste or possible way to reuse it is a fact to be debated, since this is an essential natural resource for life. The conservation of this resource has become one of the greatest challenges faced by humanity in recent times. Environmental management has been introducing water management programs to combat the excessive consumption of drinking water in various service sectors, especially in public agencies such as hospitals, schools, public buildings and other departments. The main objective of this work was to verify the possibility of reusing water from a hospital laundry effluent, promoting the saving of natural and financial resources. It was based on theoretical references quoting treatments of hospital effluents. Sustainability media can be used to raise awareness of the population, and the study may be useful to assist in the future implementation of a water conservation program. Effluents from hospitals must undergo physical, chemical and biological treatments to ensure that this effluent is not a contaminant in the area of use of this treated effluent. Studies on water reuse in the laundry sector should remain prominent as this department is one of the most water-consuming in a hospital. First, the effluent was treated by a laboratory ultrafiltration membrane, and thus was characterized and compared with a literature. Subsequently, the cost of implanting the MBR system (278,749.50 R$) was processed to treat the flow and the return time of 25 months if carried out in a purge every 3 days of system operation and 39 months if the purge was done every 2 days.
