Relações entre design gráfico e arte concreta a partir da obra de Luiz Sacilotto

Abstract

This present study investigates and reflects about the relations between graphic design and the concrete art production, by using the artist Luiz Sacilotto as the intermediator of those relations. The study begins in the origin of concretism on the literature and visual arts, showing its many thoughts, and presenting a part of the history and artworks of Luiz Sacilotto. There is also a research about the teaching of design, preceding the chapter that shows icons of graphic design produced on the 1950’s until the present, through a historical and conceptual look that shows the relations between concretism and graphic design. Finally, are established which are the contextual, formal and aesthetical associations, how they are established and how they work, by influencing other graphic artifacts in subsequent periods. Afterwards, was made a qualitative and quantitative research about the perception of some individuals about those relations, opening space for a range of reflections about design in a brazilian scenery and as a path of the material culture.
