One of the biggest problems found in urban centers is congestion of vehicles in traffic, a fact that has never been as sharp lately logging miles of traffic jams. The study below describes the origin of the traffic signal controller globally, reports the characteristics of programming and signal control infrastructure currently used, and then write about the automation system semaphore held in Porto Velho-RO, which replaced all obsolete traffic signal controllers for equipment with superior technological resources that enabled the increased fluidity of the main transit corridors of city traffic from the traffic signal timing. The main objective of this study is the decrease in slow traffic on the main roads of the city, demonstrating that the signal control automation, along with the standardization of traffic scheduling, reduces the incidence of bottlenecks by reducing the time spent on the roads of the capital shift Rondônia
