Resumen
The purpose of this work is to analyse the feasibility of usage Common Reeds as source of energy, on a small village located on north-east of Scotland. Cottown is a village with 47 houses, and at the present moment burn oil to heat their homes. The idea came from a Group Project undertaken by final-year students in School of Architecture, on making a study on the possibility of utilising reeds that grow naturally along the banks of the River Tay as source of energy. With the purpose of utilizing the natural biomass available, an energetic analysis was undertaken using the average consume of energy, for heating and electricity, to define the best approach, CHP or District Heating, should be adopted. Economic and Environmental analyses were also done considering reports of other countries and cities that already use Reed as source of energy, and then from these data conclude about the feasibility of these for Cottown.
