Resumen
Continuing education of teachers is an alternative for improving teaching, especially in a perspective that may include the use of digital technologies and new teaching methodologies. Thus, the search for innovation in the classroom and the use of digital technology in Science Teaching is not a new subject and several research have been carried out for these purposes, and, in theory, a lot has been said, but there is a lot to be done to be really put into practice. What are the potentialities and the challenges of a continuing education course, for Science Education teachers, with the proposition of Active Methodologies and Digital Technologies of Information and Communication (DTIC)? Therefore, this research aimed to analyze a continuing education course for teachers of basic education, where innovative strategies for Science Teaching were worked. The course developed for the research was of the type of extension course with a 50-hour workload in the semi-presential modality, with five physical meetings, held at the premises of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) – city of Curitiba, and six at a distance using the remote meetings using the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), on UTFPR Moodle platform. The research was carried out with a qualitative approach and the data were constructed based in questionnaires, activities posted on the Moodle platform, the researcher’s diary, the recordings (audio). For data analysis, the content analysis methodology was used (BARDIN, 2011). The school reality reported by the teachers participating in the course involves several challenges: the large number of students in the classroom, duration of classes, preparation time for classes, school structure (precariousness or lack of didactic environments and resources). The data analysis allowed us to understand that, the course developed, contributed to encourage teachers to take the first steps towards developing innovative classes. The continuing education course developed was revised, restructured, and presented as an Educational Product in the form of e-book. In this product, paths and theoretical frameworks that contribute to teacher education through innovative pedagogical strategies, with a focus on Active Methodologies that can potentiated DTIC for Science Teaching.
