Resumen
This dissertation highlights the perspective of Scientific Investigation / Inquiry Science Teaching in the early years of elementary school, in the context of municipal schools in the city of Curitiba. Its main objective is to promote science education through activities inspired by ways in which scientific knowledge is built. In order to contribute to continuing education programs sponsored by the City Department of Education (SMEC), a qualitative study regarding classroom science teaching practices is presented aiming at identifying ongoing practices and their relationship to Inquiry Science eaching methods. We investigated, by means of direct observation and questionnaires, some of the references and procedures used by teachers from municipal public schools in Curitiba, for school plans preparation. The product of this professional master’s work consists of a teaching material geared to teachers, and inspired by Inquiry Science Teaching methods. It is intended as a contribution to the improvement of teacher’s continuing education programs.
