Resumen
The molding process with green sand is utilized by a great part of casting companies in Brazil, generating tons of solid waste per year. The wastes need a special destination because the harmful potential to enviroment. That situation motivates the search for alternatives and solutions to minimize the environmental impact. This academic work aims to study the wet treatment process to regenerate casting green sand with internal friction, removing a large amount of clay and fine, enabling the reuse in molding. A green sand that have been used reused for consecutive times was analyzed by optical microscopy, particles concentration, granulometric distribution. The fineness module raised 2,82 as the AFS clay variation reduced 47,58% . The results shows the viability of the process and that a large quantity of clay and fine was removed without significant variations in fineness module and sand concentration.
