Resumen
In this study, the physical and chemical characteristics of the Hydroxyapatite/Chitosan (HAP/QUI) composite were synthesized and analyzed. The chitosan used was obtained by deacetylation of the chitin extracted from ox beetles (Strategus aloues). The composite was analyzed by XRD and IVTF techniques. In addition to the characterization, a hemolytic assay of the material was tested. Through these analyzes it was possible to prove the formation of the HAP/CHI composite. The HAP/CHI using beetles (HAP/CHI-b) showed great similarity with a reference composite (HAP/CHI-a), in which commercial chitosan was used in the synthesis. Regarding the observation of the hemolytic assay of the material, HAP/CHI-b presented a value equal to 1.61±0.04%; low value when compared with the literature. Thus, HAP/QUI-b has proved to be a possible candidate for biomaterial.
