Resumen
In the present work, we conducted a study to degradation of phenolic compounds from effluent of the ophthalmic industry looking to minimize the environmental impacts caused by the same. Waste originated this type of industry are composed of metals complexed by action of chelating agents, surface-active agents, EDTA, organic compounds and dyes, you can disrupt the development of microorganisms used in conventional treatments, making them. The deployment of advanced oxidative treatments such as eletrodegradation has been widely used for colour removal of organic compounds, where these processes can be employed as primary or secondary treatment with application to do single or in pre and/or post-treatment. The objective in this paper the study of an alternative means of treatment through eletrodegradação process in order to analyze the possible of treatment by comparing the requirements of the current legislation as COD, BOD, phenolic compounds, pH and color reduction in the visible region, for effluent release into the body. Thus, it was possible to verify that there has been degradation that was initially in the effluent, however it is not possible to say that the same has been degraded sufficiently to be thrown in water body according to controller body.
