Resumen
The aim of this study was to evaluate weight gain, feed conversion, feed intake and feed intake per bird of broilers challenged with Salmonella Heidelberg. The experiment was conducted in the experimental poultry facility, located at the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, Campus Dois Vizinhos, PR. A total 224 male, one day old, Cobb, was allocated in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replicates per treatment with 14 birds each. The birds were 4 treatments where Trat. A - Birds that received three doses of the probiotic A, Trat. B - Birds that received only the challenge on second day old (positive control), Trat. C - Birds that received probiotic B, Trat. D - Birds that received a prebiotic. The addition of probiotics and prebiotics additives A, B and D had no significantly difference (P> 0.05) compared to treatment C. And had no effect on feed intake, body gain and feed conversion. We can conclude overall that the addition of probiotics and prebiotics did not improve performance of broilers challenged with Salmonella Heidelberg throughout the experiment.
