Resumen
This paper aims to examine the understanding of the future Mathematics teachers of the Degree in Mathematics of the Federal Technological University of Paraná -Campus Cornélio about the Problem Solving Methodology. The main issues addressed in this work are: the historical evolution of the problems and the teaching of Mathematics, working with problems in the classroom and the potential and limitations of using the Problem Solving Methodology. The data collected through semi-structured interviews were analyzed using an analysis process constructed by the author, based on some principles of Discursive Textual Analysis. From this research it was possible to verify the understanding of future teachers about: the problem term, the potentialities and limitations that they perceive regarding the application of Problem Solving Methodology in the classroom and what their understanding of the integration processes of this methodology in Mathematics classes.
