Resumen
The electricity distribution system in Brazil physically connects the transmission system to the end user, and such connection is the responsibility of the distribution companies. After ANEEL adopted the efficiency ratios of distribution companies to regulate their tariffs, the search for efficiency has been constant. In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the efficiency of the ten largest electricity distribution networks in Brazil (referring to consumer units in 2014) using the Data Envelopment Analysis technique. The choice of such companies was made through the Statistical Yearbook of Electric Energy, produced by the Energy Research Company (2015). The data were taken from the Physical-Electrical Attributes of Consumer Unit Sets, 2014, available on the ANEEL website. Using the Data Envelopment Analysis methodology and choosing the inputs and products through literature search and using the product-oriented BCC model, calculated using the DEA-Solver LV 8.0 tool and run by Microsoft Excel® software, two distribution companies. electricity was efficient, namely: ELETROPAULO (SP) and ENEL (CE). Thus, ELETROPAULO (SP) has served as a reference for nine inefficient energy distribution companies, while ENEL (CE) has served as a reference for two companies. Finally, regarding variable returns to scale, it is noted that the company ELETROPAULO (SP) is in the best possible situation, with pure technical efficiency and constant return of scale.
