Resumen
This paper introduces the features and components of communication networks for substation automation based on the standard IEC 61850. The ring, star and double star network topologies were analyzed for the study of reliability, availability and its feasibility of use. Among the methods used for analysis, besides the own construction and operation features of each topology, it was adopted the Markov state model and the tree failures. The respective availability and reliability studies represented by the Mean Time to Failure generated by each topology has been shown quantitatively, concluding that the duplication of the double star network topology for the proposed case study provides greater reliability and availability of the three addressed configurations.
