Resumen
The poor sanitary quality of seeds of Phaseolus vulgaris impairs the germination and vigor and results in direct losses in productivity. The chemical treatment minimizes these effects, but can impact the environment. Thus, the use of natural products with inhibitory behavior of phytopathogens has been given the widespread need for natural products that do not harm the biotic community. In this context, the objective of this work to extract and characterize the essential oil of Moringa oleifera as well as evaluate its antimicrobial effect on phytopathogenic microflora of bean seeds. The essential oil was extracted by Clevenger extractor type and its components characterized by gas chromatography. The treatments consisted of emulsions containing five different concentrations of essential oil (0; 5; 10; 20 and 40 μL) and a fungicide. After evaluation of the sanitary quality, the treated seeds were subjected to blotter test method to assess the incidence of fungi and germination of spores was tested against the different concentrations of essential oil and fungicide. The experimental design was completely randomized with six treatments (5 essential oil doses and fungicide) and 5 replications. Means were compared at 5% probability by Tukey test. Seven genera of fungi were identified in seeds, Penicillium sp., was the highest incidence. The essential oil of Moringa oleifera was effective in inhibiting spore germination of Fusarium sp., Aspergillus flavus and Alternaria sp. Dose equivalent to 40 μL. Since they were identified 11 chemical compounds, among which consisted monoterpene and sesquiterpene.
