Resumen
Among the many advantages of the usage of flat slabs, the architectonic freedom is arguably the most appealing, making this type of structure an ever more popular choice amid professionals. In order to obtain the values of bending stresses in this type of slab, several calculation methods can be used, among which are this term paper’s objects of study: the linear plane frame analysis, the grid and shell association analysis. The objectives set for this study basically entailed the comparison between the bending forces resulted in each of the three before mentioned methods. That was achieved through the use of a flat slab model supported by 16 columns disposed as a square. Since it’s a practical method, the linear plane frame analysis resulted in generally satisfactory bending stresses, albeit slightly imprecise in some regions of the slab. The numerical methods represented by the grids and shells associations turned out to be more similar to each other, apart from certain regions around columns where there was a spike in the values of bending stresses through the use of shell analysis.
