Resumen
Equipment capable of separating mixture phases are widely used in industry, especially in oil and gas. The technology of vertical cyclone separators are an emerging class, being lightweight, compact, low cost and which provide a higher rate of separation. In order to understand the dynamics of fluid inside and its operation, this paper studies the influence of the nozzle in the behavior of biphasic flow, liquid-gas, in the expansion chamber of VASPS tab. To model the flow the Two Fluid Model is used, which is basically a result of the mass balance and the balance of momentum for each phase (liquid-gas). The interface of the liquid film that forms along the flow is modeled using a method of capturing the free surface flow interface. For the numerical modeling, we use the Finite Volume Method based on elements with a fully implicit formulation. The discretized equations are solved by the commercial computer program ANSYS-CFX 14.5 in three dimensions and for the meshes construction the ICEM-CFD program. The results are compared with existing results in the open literature, based on the numerical results, the nozzle influence in the behavior of the gas-liquid two-phase flow and the efficiency of the separator is analyzed. The main parameters that help to establish a methodology for the evaluation and design of an expansion chamber as average height of elevation of the net, average film thickness, rake angle of the lines of current and residence time of the liquid inside the chamber were evaluated, with the use of the dimensionless Froude groups (0.05, 0.25, 0.75) and Reynolds (500; 1500; 5000, 10000).
