Resumen
The high cost of bioprinters creates opportunities for research and projects to adapt 3D printers for application in biomaterials. In this work, we investigated the potential of using a lowcost 3D printer, customized with adaptation for commercial disposable syringes, which allowed for the controlled deposition of a customized hydrogel. Furthermore, a protocol for using the bioprinter for the production of hydrogel scaffolds was proposed. Therefore, it was necessary to adapt a lowcost 3D filament extrusion printer for printing with a plunger, a Graber I3 printer was adapted, after the adaptation, it was possible to simulate and evaluate the 3D bioprinting with the hydrogel formulation composed of alginate /gelatin. The conclusions were that the printer’s x, y, z movement system had uncertainties within the adequate standards, the ideal print speed was 5 mm/s and the extrusion multiplier was 0.10 mm3 with 100% cooling and a cold table. In relation to the hydrogel, the best result was for a formulation of 1.8% sodium alginate with 3% gelatin. The protocol for using the 3D bioprinter with the Alginate/gelatin hydrogel was evaluated and validated based on quality parameters.
