dc.description.abstractThe use of vertical transports rise every day, mainly in big metropolitan cities that grow vertically and in a astonishing way. With all this development and due to its wide use, the risks of accidents can be common and therefore, this work intends to show a project and a simulation of a security device for elevators using extensometer, and as main objective to contribute to the quality working of the elevator regarding the maximum weight supported. This work shows conceptions, studies and simulations using programming that currently is being applied in several areas, which include Mechanical Engineering. The research wasmadeusing concepts extracted from extensometry, which allows the measurement of the deformation by a shape in its elastic state. This fact is advantageous as it does not need destructive trials for data collection referred to the work suffered by this shape. For data verification resources such as Strain Gage were used because it is an attractive sensor, precise and versatile; an electronic circuit; Arduino chip and software; electronic components and some simulations with the use of the software Proteus ISIS Professional that allowed a more precise evaluation to the working of the security system. Therefore, it was necessary to develop using the software SolidWorks a prototype of an elevator in scale, followed by a simulation intending to find the weight of the elevator structure, the deformation of the prototype and the adequate position for the application of the extensometers and then it was given continuation to the programming and it was concluded.
