This study aimed to evaluate the techniques used for work at height, in the activity of stacking sacks of sugar in a sugar and alcohol company, located in the state of Goiás. The evaluation was conducted through a questionnaire given to employees who perform work at heights, in order to check if they have knowledge of the NR-35 as well as the inherent risks involved in this kind of task. In addition, a Preliminary Risk Analysis of work (APR) was carried out in order to propose appropriate measures that can be applied to mitigate risks of working at heights. The methodology used in this study was the on-site evaluation, followed by the preparation and application of a questionnaire to assess the knowledge level of employees with regard to the requirements of NR-35. Based on the methodology and context of this study, recommendations have been made for preventing falls from heights. The results obtained through the application of APR showed that among the risks associated with the working at heights, the risks from falls are the most worrisome, due to the method of climbing currently used in the stacking sacks activity. Based on the on-site evaluation methodology, an articulated vehicle has been suggested as a way to prevent or reduce the risks of the workers falling while working at heights. Other risks from the activity include the lack of signaling and the movement of forklift trucks in the workplace. The results obtained from a questionnaire were satisfactory, since the workers have knowledge of the NR-35. This task is accomplished through education and training programs offered on a regular basis
