Resumen
In this present work was studied and applicated the method of nonlinear finite element, using concepts of the theory of Cosserat beams, focusing on slender structures. These structures are characterized by large aspect ratio, ie, its cross section is much smaller than its length. These characteristics make the structure presents small deformations and large displacements, which characterizes its non-linear behavior. It still stands out that these structures are found in transmission cables, oil drilling risers, mooring lines, among others. During the work, an algorithm previously developed was used in Matlab, using the numerical method of nonlinear finite element, based on the theory of Cosserat beams. In this work was simulated statically a slender structure, whose final shape is given by a catenary. At the end of the validation was performed by comparing the results with the results found in studies in the literature.
