Resumen
The industrial circular knives are widely used in a several industries for transverse and longitudinal materials cutting. These applications demand the tools to have wear resistance and thoughness to prolong their life. In the present work the wear resistance, thoughness and hardness of the sintered steels and conventional tools steels were compared, according to their microstructural characteristics and discussing the efficiency and tool life in the context of industrial circular knives. For that, it was realized a bibliographic review of the most applicated industrial circular knives steels was performed, it was possible to conclude on the superiority of the sintered steels, showing improved thoughness, wear resistance and rectifiability. These higher gride properties, resulted in a tool life 4 to 6 times higher than steels obtained from conventional metallurgical process, what justified the substitution in the industrial circular knives application.
