Resumen
The experiment was performed at the Universidade Técnologica Federal do Paraná UTFPR Campus Dois Vizinhosors in the area of beef cattle. Aiming to evaluate the diurnal ingestive behavior of Holstein calves in two systems:feedlot and pasture, the evaluation period was from September 2011 to February 2012. Data collection was done in a period of 10 hours daily with 5 minute intervals during. The activities of rumination, rest, food and ingesting water and significant differences in average (min.) of 141.58, 228.37, 170.78, 161.75 and 9.81 for confinement; 191.88, 240, 13, 5.12 for animals on pasture, no significant difference (p> 0.05) among treatments for ingesting water (B), rumination efficiency (ER) and number of daily chewing ruminating (NMD). The total time for rumination in the pasture was higher than in confinement, confined animals, in leisure time was higher (228.37) min.compared to animals on pasture (191.88) min. The time devoted to feeding differed significantly (P <0.05) among treatments, the animals in the pasture were higher (69.35 minutes) before confinement. There was also significant effect (P <0.05) the number of treatments for cakes rumen per day (NBD, TMD and EA) to these variables, the animals in the pasture times higher than those obtained from confinement. The values and (TMB and NMB) were superior to animals in confinement.
