Nanomaterials have at least one dimension in the range of 1 to 100 nanometers, called critical size. New properties are found mainly by surface area gain. This work involves the synthesis and characterization of titanium oxide nanotubes by hydrothermal technique and testing niobium oxide using the same hydrothermal treatment method. The presence of nanotubes has been found by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), while the crystal structure was evaluated by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and characterized the porosity of the structures synthesized by isotherms for adsorption/desorption of nitrogen using the BET method. Initially, separating the product from the wash solution was done using a centrifuge, and later samples, this process was done with simple decantation of the solid sample from the wash solution. The experiments done with the centrifuge wash did not produce nanotubes, it is estimated that the intermediate structures of nanotube formation were unable to maintain stability, and returned to the initial state of nanoparticles. The alternative synthesis method used proved to be a more sensitive method simple with time longer mixing between the washing solution and the solid sample, allowing a more complete flushing, and as a final result diameter nanotubes were observed consistently in more a synthesis condition.
