This job was based on study of the behavior of a two piles cap in reinforced concrete submitted to centered axial force, through numerical and analytical analysis. The dimensions, loading and other parameters adopted in this study were based on Delalibera (2006), as well as the results of displacement, maximum applied load, tension flow and displacement force diagrams obtained on experimental tests and numerical analysis. The linear versus nonlinear three-dimensional numerical analysys were performed in the ABAQUS software, from which stress flows, displacements and load-displacement diagrams were obtained. The analytical study aimed at the knowledge of the maximum load according to four methods available in the literature, which were compared with the maximum experimental load. The linear and nonlinear numerical analyzes allowed the visualization of the connecting strut formation, as sugested by the strut-and-tie method, diagonally towards the piles. The maximum loads allowed for the four analytical methods approach the experimental load. The angles of the struts in the analog models were different, but compared to the stress flows, they could be considered close. Through this study, it was possible to understand the functioning of ABAQUS software and the importance of using nonlinear analysis, visualized as different results from linear analysis.
