Resumen
This work is the application of basic concepts of linear and nonlinear finite element, and the Cosserat rod theory for the analysis of different structures. The main goal is thesimulation of the quasi-static behavior of a submerged riser, structure widely used in oil extraction from the seabed. This structure shows great displacements since it is a slender structure, thus its behavior is considered nonlinear, and also it can be considered a one-dimensional structure. It was implemented in Matlab, an algorithm that simulates this structure, by imposing a forced displacement at one end in the horizontal direction, while the other end remains labeled. It is defined a one-dimensional mesh in the centroids line, characterizing the use of the Cosserat rod theory. The forces acting on the structure are its own weight and the buoyancy of the water. Validation is made by comparing the solution to the catenary equation, and also, by comparing to a previews work.
