Resumen
The aim of this work is to compare the literary works of Hamlet and Murder on the Orient Express, written respectively by Shakespeare and Agatha Christie, from the perspective of revenge. In this research, it is intended to observe and analyze, through excerpts, the similarities and differences found between the two works in what concerns mainly the unfolding of revenge. It is also pointed out that the police narrative occupies the position of the so-called enigma narrative and that the dramatic text is characterized as a tragedy of revenge. For this, we use authors such as Heliodora (2009), Esper (2009), Reimão (1983) and Massi (2011), who substantiate and base this research. This analysis made it possible to compare the ways of revenge planning in the two literary works: In the play written by Shakespeare, Hamlet uses the theater as an instrument to avenge King Claudius, his uncle, who murdered his father, King Hamlet, and now he wears his crown. In Murder on the Orient Express, revenge is performed by the family of Daisy Armstrong, the victim of a murder committed by Cassetti. Like Hamlet, Daisy's family uses almost dramatic and theatrical means to perform revenge. The comparative analysis carried out in this work shows that, although the two texts belong to different literary genres, there is a dialogue between them and this comparative study only enriches the literary universe even more.
