Restoring energy quickly is essential for reducing DEC and FEC rates that are assessed using indicators established by ANEEL, many emergency events such as tree branch contact, weather events, collision damage to network structures and other reasons. May lead to shutdowns of the power distribution networks. In order to identify a fault in the network, maintenance personnel have to perform visual inspections, often going through the entire feeder to find the reason for the fault. There are several studies proving the reduction of interruption time by up to 60% with the installation of fault indicators, through its remote signaling guides the teams straight to the defect segment. Therefore, the present work will present a study of fault indication equipment, through the theoretical approach of the main functions of the equipment, its benefits, and its application methods, and show that Fis can be used today. Just to help pinpoint faults, but also to improve maneuvering coordination, quickly communicating directly with recloser controls and feeder relays.
