Resumen
This undergraduate final project seeks to reduce the deformation in the bearing seat (critical dimension) of the FF-215 flanged endshield applied at the 112 electric motor frame. For the root cause analysis, the project applied the Quality Problem Analysis tool (QPA), also known as A3 form, where were followed the seven steps defined by the tool. The flanged endshields were measure after each machining process and, from these measurements new test flanges have been casted with reinforcements in the bearing seat. After the conclusion of the testes, it became evident that there are deformations in the bearing seat after each machining process caused by the cutting force and the pressure to hold the flange at the machining device. Therefore, with a more robust flange design, considering reinforcements in the bearing seat, these deformations can be substantially reduce, irrespective of the machining process and with this condition, ensure a better quality at the FF-215 flanged endshield dimension and consequently increase the electric motor life cycle and reliability at the final customer.
