Resumen
This research presents the best way to popularize the concepts, considered as keys (reliability, useful life and early life), of Reliability Engineering among consumers as a means to promote industrial competitiveness. It carries out an online questionnaire with 255 participants, in order to ascertain their knowledge about reliability, present the key concepts and analyze the reception of the consumers to them, as well as the manner that such definitions would be used in their relations of consumption. It discusses theories of the impact of reliability on industrial costs and benefits to companies, presents simplifications for the key terms, and presents theories and models governing consumer behavior and its influence on industrial competitiveness. Through the questionnaire, the research has shown that consumers become more aware of the value and importance of reliability when information about it is present in the form of figures (whether symbol, label or seal), also they tend to prefer products that come with explicit reliability in the chosen format, and become more favorable, with the knowledge of the key concepts, to demand for products with assured reliability from manufacturers.
