dc.description.abstractA connection in a structure is responsible for the union and transmission of forces or moments from one structural element to another, such as beams and columns. The aim of this work is to study bolted connections in metal structures and the development of a computational application for didactic purposes based on the Microsoft Office Excel program for the design automation of extended end-plate moment connections and simple shear double angle beam-to-beam connections. The automation of the connections design allows optimizing the time of design by the engineer and allows the test of various configurations of parameters and actions in a short time period. The development of specific tools makes more practical to verify the calculation for a bolted connections of interest. The application contain data of many commercial profiles in the database and its use is easy and intuitive. The application development and validation process was performed based on analytically solved examples.
