Resumen
Brazil stands out in the world production of agricultural commodities, and in the southwestern region of Paraná, soy and corn are two important annual crops. Agricultural activity is subject to several risks that affect productivity as well as risks inherent in the market, such as production costs, oscillation in marketing prices, demand and others. TheFuture Market was created as an instrument of price protection for rural producers, inorder to reduce market risks. The objective of this work is to analyze the economic viability of the use of soybean and second crop corn futures contracts traded on BM&FBOVESPAfor producers of Dois Vizinhos-PR, compared to the physical market in the 2017/2018harvest. The research was carried out from a bibliographical review and the data collection comes from official data of the sector. It is concluded from this analysis that the use of contracts for soybeans may, in fact, help producers to protect their prices against future oscillations and that future corn contracts in the second crop did not offer protection because the crop itself risks of production outside the market. It is also concluded with this research that there should be greater interaction among agronomy professionals in the segment of agricultural derivatives.
