Resumen
The primary textile processing deals with a set of operations that aim to prepare the textile substrate for the dyeing and finishing processes. One of the operations carried out is the scouring process, whose main objective is to remove oils, fats and other intrinsic impurities from the fibers. To achieve this goal, it is possible to carry out processes using chemical agents, which can be aggressive to both the fibers and the environment. However, nowadays, it is also possible to use enzymatic scouring processes, that is, enzymes that have high specificity are used and, therefore, react only with the impurities, not causing damage to the fiber, allowing the cleaning process to be carried out in a milder way than the conventional one. In view of this, the objective of this work was to compare the results obtained in 100% cotton mesh fabrics scoured by conventional and enzymatic processes and analyze the influence of factors time, temperature and concentration on these processes. Among the factors presented, temperature had the greatest inflence in relation to capillarity in both alkaline and enzymatic process. The enzymatic scoring has shown advantages over conventional process, because it presented better capillarity results in lower temperature and time conditions.
