Resumen
This monograph aims to develop control strategies to achieve state of charge balance in energy storage systems for DC microgrids. This essay was divided into two papers, each one with distinct objectives. The article titled "Sliding balancing functions for energy storage systems"presents sliding balancing functions for energy storage systems. In this paper, a brief introduction is presented, followed by the proposed DC microgrid’s description. The mathematical analysis is presented, together with the state space analysis used for the control design. In the third section, it is presented some control strategies currently in use, and existing control categories. The proposed balancing function and novel control strategies are also presented. This novel control strategy operates in a similar way to a dynamic saturator. Afterward, the simulation results are shown, with scenarios for charging and discharge, followed by a brief discussion and conclusion. The article "Priority based strategy for SoC balancing"presents a control system that operates based on priorities to achieve state of charge balancing. An introduction is presented, followed by the introduction of the DC microgrid adopted. The mathematical model and state space analysis are also shown. The third section has a summary of the literature about microgrid control, including control strategies. It is presented a balancing function and two control strategies with different priorities, one for state of charge balancing and the other for voltage restoration. Afterward, the results for each strategy are shown, followed by a brief discussion and conclusion. The results obtained are favorable for the developed strategies.
