Resumen
One of the conditions that favor the preservation of conservation areas is the development of strategies to awareness of the population living surrounding such areas. A visitation through interpretive trails is one of these strategies, which can serve as a tool for environmental interpretation. In Farroupilha Park there is an ecological trail, which to be considered an interpretive trail and assist in the environmental awareness process of Park visitors needed an interpretive script. This study aimed to provide botanical information that supported the development of interpretive scripts to the trails from Farroupilha Park, considering the theme of vegetation. To meet this goal, was performed a study of phytogeographical and floristic information about vegetation of the Park; the identification of 30 arboreal individuals presents in the trails and information on the relevant species, including vernacular and scientific names, popular use, ecological characteristics and economic importance; analysis of environmental perception of the public visiting the Park; and preparation of texts for making panels addressing issues related to natural attributes and ecological interactions present in the Park. Were identified 30 individuals belonging to 28 species, which were classified according to the environmental group, as pioneers and non-pioneers and the dispersion syndrome, as autochorous, zoochorous and anemochorous. It was found also the endangered species. The species were classified according to their economic and ecological importance, these being: important timber, medicinal, ornamental, restoration of degraded areas and for food. Also, it was researched about ecological interactions present in the Park, such as: the type of vegetation, role of lianas in the ecosystem, the water cycle, nutrient cycling, dynamics of clearings, among others. Such themes were used in the preparation of texts for interpretive panels for the Park's trails. The information obtained through this research will subsidize new studies on environmental education in the county, as well as population awareness of environmental issues.
