In Brazil, according to the newsletter from Conab (National Supply Company), a public company linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, 2006 produced about 435 thousand tons of sugarcane. Over the years there has been an increase in this production, which reached 633,000 tons for the year 2018. This growth is due to the improvement of technology and planning in the implementation of planting, which consequently increases the production of waste. vegetables. Characteristics such as moisture, volatile solids, ash and fixed carbon, as well as techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG), were applied in order to better understand sugarcane straw and thus determine the experimental conditions. A experimental design with repetition at the central point allowed the modeling of an equation expressed in the mixed model through multivariate analysis. At the end it was verified the yields of each test performed and it was concluded that the modification of the pyrolysis bed does not significantly influence the yield of the bio oil for the operating conditions used. Through thin layer chromatography, it was possible to visually infer different concentrations of the target compound and to calculate the retention factor (Rf), which confirmed the existence of Levoglucosan. Thus, knowing the importance of the compound Levoglucosan and its high economic value, the study and characterization of it becomes of great relevance.
